The trade table was where it all came apart. The Raiders shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.
Everything downstream of Shedeur Sanders depends on Shedeur Sanders, and the building knows it. If Sanders pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They banked enough surplus on Martinez to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
A reach on Tyler Booker in Round 2, Pick 6; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nice patience on Ozzy Trapilo, who had no business lasting to slot 69. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Evan Stewart in pick No. 73 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nicholas Singleton at the 105th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaeden Roberts. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Benjamin Morrison at par in pick 185, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A real head-scratcher, Shilo Sanders in the 212th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A reach for Jeffrey Bassa in the 214th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Damien Martinez in slot 224 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
