The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Reaching for McCaffrey left real value on the table behind him. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Ford.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy little value on Darius Robinson in pick 44, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kiran Amegadjie in the Round 3 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Dominick Puni at Round 4, Pick 11 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Luke McCaffrey well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had Chau Smith-Wade higher than slot 147, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A premium they did not need to pay, Frank Gore Jr. a notch or two before his time. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They read the board right and Nathaniel Watson was the payoff at the 223rd overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jaylan Ford in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
