The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Rogers pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Getting Brownlee Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nice patience on Brenden Rice, who had no business lasting to Round 4, Pick 8. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They let Jarvis Brownlee Jr. come to them and pounced at pick 129. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A reach for Javion Cohen in slot 157; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Marist Liufau went about where he belonged in No. 167. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid a round early for Justin Rogers in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board had Sheridan Jones higher than the 230th overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Nothing to complain about; Nathan Thomas went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
