The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named interior defensive lineman, a need the Eagles walked right past.
If Gore Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Landing Zinter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy little value on Chris Braswell in Round 2, Pick 18, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 53, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Zak Zinter slipping to pick 120 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No drama and no debate, Jaheim Bell went about where he belonged in the 161st pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Malik Mustapha at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
By-the-book stuff, Jha'Quan Jackson at No. 172 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Frank Gore Jr. at slot 210 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
