Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Raiders spent the 248th overall pick on Charles Turner III, a name most had 64 spots down the list.
Everything downstream of Jayden Daniels depends on Jayden Daniels, and the building knows it. The Williams value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
They will replay Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 77 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 127 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Braelon Allen in Round 5, Pick 14; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A slide stopped in the 164th overall pick, with Jaylin Simpson worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
You do not let a wide receiver like Isaiah Williams reach slot 234 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Charles Turner III in pick 248, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
