The Raiders looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Cameron Ward at the 114th pick regardless, 33 picks early. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Kinchens at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
A reach on Jared Verse in No. 14; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They went early on Cooper DeJean in slot 46, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value with a capital V on Kamren Kinchens in the 78th pick, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Cameron Ward at pick No. 114 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tyler Guyton at the Round 5 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in pick 192, with Cam Hart worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Zion Nelson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
