Start where it matters. The Raiders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Odunze falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The cost of the Wilson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 12 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Rome Odunze in No. 44, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jordan Morgan in pick No. 76 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached a country mile for Payton Wilson at the Round 4 slot, and the board is aghast. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid a round early for Ashton Gillotte in Round 5, Pick 13, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let a cornerback like Jaylin Simpson reach the 190th overall pick and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They liked Jase McClellan enough to skip the value, taking him in the 233rd pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
