The board owed the Raiders one, and it paid up: Sebastian Castro, the No. 87 name on the board, sitting there at Round 5, Pick 7 like a gift left on the doorstep.
The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Parr has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They robbed the room for Quinn Ewers here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Jaxson Dart at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tacario Davis at Round 4, Pick 8 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
You do not let a safety like Sebastian Castro reach the 145th pick and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
They took Nick Martin at par in the 187th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid up for Logan Parr at No. 212 when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Azareye'h Thomas at pick 214 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: Deion Burks for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
