The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. The final tally is a middling C+.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Hit on Jayden Daniels and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Kingsley Suamataia in the 77th pick, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled Mike Sainristil all the way to the 106th overall pick, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Ray Davis at slot 112 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
A cornerback of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on AJ Barner. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Erick All at pick 234 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
