The Dwight McGlothern pick is the one that will follow the Raiders into the fall. They took him 44 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.14 · Pick 14 · Jer'Zhan Newton · DL · rank 18
In the 14th pick they get a load in the middle at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R3.19 · Pick 83 · Jackson Powers-Johnson · C · rank 93
A reach on Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick 83; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.14 · Pick 114 · Bucky Irving · RB · rank 104
Bucky Irving in No. 114 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.15 · Pick 151 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 194
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Christian Mahogany well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.23 · Pick 159 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 195
A big swing on Jaylan Ford at the Round 5 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.17 · Pick 192 · Dwight McGlothern · DB · rank 236
Dwight McGlothern in Round 6, Pick 17 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
R6.25 · Pick 200 · Curtis Jacobs · LB · rank 202
Curtis Jacobs in the 200th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R7.15 · Pick 235 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 266
A wild overpay on Sam Hartman in pick No. 235, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
