The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
Getting Simpson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Guerendo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th pick they get their guy under center for the next decade, reach and all.
You do not let a wide receiver like Xavier Legette reach slot 56 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Payton Wilson in the Round 3 slot. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Steal is underselling it; Zak Zinter at Round 4, Pick 13 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kamal Hadden in the 147th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jaylin Simpson in pick No. 190, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Matthew Jones this early at No. 221. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Isaac Guerendo at pick 231 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
