It is the swing that defines the weekend: Tyler Baron in pick 103, a good 84 spots before the room expected him. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C in the wash.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 19 they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Josh Conerly Jr. at the 39th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for J.C. Davis at No. 71, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyler Baron this early at the 103rd pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Rylie Mills in pick 135 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jordan James at slot 167 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
They paid a round early for Armand Membou in Round 7, Pick 7, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
