The board owed the Raiders one, and it paid up: Mohamed Kamara, the No. 117 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 5 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Their trades came out a wash either way.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. A real need, handled.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jordan Morgan reach pick 44 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kamren Kinchens in pick No. 51 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Cooper Beebe at No. 77 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took DJ James at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Circle this one: Mohamed Kamara at the 150th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A quiet steal in slot 190: Jaylan Ford for less than the market said. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Sheridan Jones slipping to the 234th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
