There is conviction, and then there is this. The Raiders took Jack Kiser a full 144 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th pick they get juice off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get protection for the quarterback, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
They reached a country mile for Jayden Higgins at No. 39, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jack Kiser at slot 71 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Tyler Baron at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Will Lee III at pick 135 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Armand Membou well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Alfred Collins in slot 199; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
