It is the swing that defines the weekend: Azareye'h Thomas in slot 103, a good 116 spots before the room expected him.
The whole projection now runs through Cam Ward; hit there and everything else looks smarter. However the rest shakes out, Coleman at that price is a win they earned.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 19 they get the face of the franchise, a steep price for the projection.
A wild overpay on Josh Conerly Jr. in pick No. 39, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Donovan Jackson at the 71st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value said wait; Azareye'h Thomas in slot 103 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Tyler Baron in pick 135 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jonah Coleman in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They talked themselves into Akheem Mesidor at the 199th overall pick, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
