Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Raiders spent the Round 7 slot on Zion Logue, a name most had 64 spots down the list. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
McGlothern falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
They did well to land Jordan Morgan in slot 44, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Xavier Legette went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tyler Davis at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Mason McCormick at pick 147 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached a country mile for Jalen Coker at pick No. 210, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Dwight McGlothern still on the board at the Round 7 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Zion Logue in No. 225 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They liked LaDarius Henderson enough to skip the value, taking him in the 227th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
