The tape said wait; the Raiders did not. Isaac Guerendo went at Round 7, Pick 5, a good 70 picks before the board was ready.
Landing Corum that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 15th overall pick they get a blindside protector. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nice patience on Brenden Rice, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Blake Corum here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A premium they did not need to pay, Ty'Ron Hopper a notch or two before his time. A minor need, but a need all the same.
You do not let a quarterback like Joe Milton III reach slot 210 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Anthony Gould in the 221st pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A big swing on Isaac Guerendo at slot 225, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They reached into another round for Taulia Tagovailoa, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
