You can draft well and still miss the point. The Raiders did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Haynes has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They banked enough surplus on Washington to cover a lot of smaller sins.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get a disruptive interior force. A clean fit for the roster.
They reached into another round for Christian Haynes, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on Renardo Green at the 77th pick, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A tidy little value on Ray Davis in Round 4, Pick 12, a step better than break-even. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No drama and no debate, Mason McCormick went about where he belonged in pick No. 148. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tahj Washington in slot 208 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Trevin Wallace a notch or two before his time. A minor itch, scratched.
By-the-book stuff, Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 229th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
