Start where it matters. The Raiders took Bo Nix to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
The cost of the Capehart reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
That Suamataia pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Bo Nix at par in pick 21, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No drama and no debate, Jermaine Burton went about where he belonged in No. 44. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Jackson Powers-Johnson in Round 2, Pick 22, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kingsley Suamataia in the 77th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Khyree Jackson, who had no business lasting to the Round 4 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Renardo Green at slot 147 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Austin Booker in the 155th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jaylen Wright in pick No. 160 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy bit of business in pick 170, where Edefuan Ulofoshio graded well above the range. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They jumped the gun on Michael Barrett, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Kitan Oladapo at Round 6, Pick 15 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A quiet steal in the 221st pick: Jaylen Harrell for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
DeMonte Capehart at pick No. 231 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
