The real work happened on the phones. The Raiders fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The cost of the Hart reach is exactly the players who went right after him. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Troy Fautanu at pick No. 29, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Johnny Wilson in No. 77 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cam Hart at the 112th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tommy Eichenberg at the Round 4 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Javion Cohen. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Julian Pearl in pick 190 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Taulia Tagovailoa at Round 7, Pick 14 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
