Best value of the weekend goes to the 49ers for Stover: B. Call it larceny. Cade Stover sat on the board until pick 114, and the 49ers did not need to be asked twice. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. The 49ers indulged a want in Solomon while a need in wide receiver, running back and other spots stayed open.
If Solomon pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Jordan Morgan
In pick No. 31 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick46
Rnd2
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 14 is lovely value for the cornerback. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick98
Rnd3
Javon Solomon
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Javon Solomon at OLB-EDGE with wide receiver, running back and other spots open.
Pick114
Rnd4
Cade Stover
A want over a need in No. 114: Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE while wide receiver, running back and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick163
Rnd5
LaDarius Henderson
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on LaDarius Henderson. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
