The phones were a trap the Eagles kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
The All reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Smith steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A real need, handled.
They read the board right and Kalen King was the payoff at the Round 2 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Chris Braswell at Round 2, Pick 22 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Khyree Jackson a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tykee Smith in the 107th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Will Shipley at No. 127 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Travis at pick 139, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Cole Bishop slid further than he should have, and pick No. 141 is lovely value for the safety. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Jaylen Wright at pick No. 160 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They went early on Delmar Glaze in pick 170, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
Javon Baker at the 171st overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy bit of business in Round 6, Pick 3, where Chau Smith-Wade graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Jefferson. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They talked themselves into Erick All at slot 204, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
