The Patriots bet the future on McCarthy. The board says B+.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on J.J. McCarthy, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

However the rest shakes out, Proctor at that price is a win they earned. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
