Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB-
The Patriots won the night they stopped Singleton from sliding. Grade: B+.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Patriots were there to profit. Nicholas Singleton, the No. 100 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 241. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

The Griffith pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In No. 6 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick38 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
A tidy bit of business in slot 38, where Jalon Walker graded well above the range. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick78 Rnd3 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at pick 78 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Pick105 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
Circle this one: Andrew Mukuba at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick157 Rnd5 Jaeden Roberts
They paid sticker price for Jaeden Roberts in the 157th pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick179 Rnd6 Cam Skattebo
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Cam Skattebo in pick No. 179, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick216 Rnd6 Kobe King
They barely believed it either: Kobe King still on the board at the 216th overall pick. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick217 Rnd7 Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun in Round 7, Pick 1 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick220 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
They left a pile of value on the table to take Thor Griffith this early at the 220th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick236 Rnd7 Terrance Ferguson
They will replay Terrance Ferguson at Round 7, Pick 20 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick241 Rnd7 Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton in No. 241 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
