Somebody in slot 149 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while Jaxson Dart, the No. 104 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher and interior defensive lineman went begging. Conerly Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
