A masterclass at the trade table lands the Patriots a B+.

Nobody had Clay Webb this high, and it is not close. The Patriots reached 33 spots to get him at pick No. 37. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Patriots indulged a want in Muhammad while a need in interior defensive lineman and quarterback stayed open.

However the rest shakes out, Evans at that price is a win they earned. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
