Nobody dealt better than the Commanders this weekend: A-. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Commanders came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Getting Liufau where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The Commanders paired the rookies with proven help, Davante Adams leading the way.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Troy Fautanu and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick36
Rnd2
Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu at the 36th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick40
Rnd2
Bralen Trice
Good price on Bralen Trice in slot 40, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick45
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton in Round 2, Pick 13 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick67
Rnd3
Ja'Tavion Sanders
Ja'Tavion Sanders at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick83
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A tidy little value on Cooper Beebe in pick No. 83, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick101
Rnd4
Marist Liufau
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Marist Liufau in No. 101. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick103
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
They paid sticker price for Khyree Jackson in the 103rd overall pick, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick138
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at pick 138 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick151
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden slid further than he should have, and No. 151 is lovely value for the cornerback. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick188
Rnd6
Roger Rosengarten
A slide stopped in pick No. 188, with Roger Rosengarten worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick191
Rnd6
Jaylen Harrell
They went early on Jaylen Harrell in Round 6, Pick 16, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick220
Rnd6
Omar Speights
Omar Speights in slot 220 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick222
Rnd7
Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan in the 222nd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Pick235
Rnd7
Steele Chambers
A reasonable price with a little left over, Steele Chambers in the 235th overall pick. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
