Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Bears: B-.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Thor Griffith in Round 4, Pick 20, a good 75 spots before the room expected him. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Sheppard.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In pick No. 20 they get an anchor for the offensive line, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Mykel Williams
They paid a round early for Mykel Williams in Round 2, Pick 1, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick52 Rnd2 Ajani Cornelius
By-the-book stuff, Ajani Cornelius at slot 52 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick84 Rnd3 Sonny Styles
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Sonny Styles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick110 Rnd4 Wyatt Milum
A straight-up fair deal on Wyatt Milum at the 110th pick, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick116 Rnd4 Thor Griffith
A big swing on Thor Griffith at the 116th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick148 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 20 is lovely value for the cornerback. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick180 Rnd6 Will Sheppard
Nice patience on Will Sheppard, who had no business lasting to the 180th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick182 Rnd6 Ben Yurosek
Ben Yurosek in the 182nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
