Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Quarterback settled, Nix in the fold, and a A- for the Patriots.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Patriots spent the Round 5 slot on Jawhar Jordan, a name the board had a full 136 spots lower.

The whole projection now runs through Bo Nix; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Colson.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Bottom line, with Bo Nix leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Joe Alt
Joe Alt at pick No. 10 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick27 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In pick 27 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman in slot 34 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick68 Rnd3 Junior Colson
Junior Colson in No. 68 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick72 Rnd3 DJ James
They reached a country mile for DJ James at the 72nd overall pick, and the board is aghast. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick103 Rnd4 Brandon Coleman
By-the-book stuff, Brandon Coleman at Round 4, Pick 3 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick137 Rnd5 Jaheim Bell
A big swing on Jaheim Bell at pick 137, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick138 Rnd5 Jawhar Jordan
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jawhar Jordan in the 138th pick, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick180 Rnd6 Jalen Coker
Jalen Coker at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick193 Rnd6 Frank Crum
They talked themselves into Frank Crum at slot 193, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick226 Rnd7 Carson Steele
Carson Steele at Round 7, Pick 6 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
Pick231 Rnd7 Kedon Slovis
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kedon Slovis this early at pick No. 231. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
