The 49ers let McCaffrey fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Somebody in slot 176 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The 49ers sat still while Luke McCaffrey, the No. 142 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
