FutureA
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Commanders and Henderson: A-. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Commanders were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.
Getting Henderson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Bradley Chubb gives the group a proven body among the projects.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Joe Alt
In pick 4 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyler Nubin in the 35th overall pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick36
Rnd2
Quinyon Mitchell
Quinyon Mitchell at Round 2, Pick 4 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick40
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
Good price on Chop Robinson in pick No. 40, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick67
Rnd3
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the Round 3 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick100
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter at slot 100 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick102
Rnd4
Audric Estime
Audric Estime in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Pick104
Rnd4
Michael Pratt
Michael Pratt at Round 4, Pick 4 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick141
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaheim Bell. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick181
Rnd6
LaDarius Henderson
Taking LaDarius Henderson in slot 181 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick223
Rnd7
Sheridan Jones
They paid sticker price for Sheridan Jones in the 223rd overall pick, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
