Nobody else had Marcus Harris anywhere near No. 215. The 49ers did, by 41 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. With running back, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on DT-EDGE is the choice that costs them. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.

So much rides on Jackson Powers-Johnson that the real verdict is a season or two away.
