Everything else got attention, and quarterback got none. That is a strange way for the Raiders to leave a draft. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a wrecking ball inside. A real need, handled.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Fair-plus on Blake Fisher, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land MarShawn Lloyd in slot 112, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kalen King at the 148th pick is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tahj Washington at No. 208 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tanner McLachlan at pick No. 223 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Myles Cole at Round 7, Pick 9 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
