Grand theft in pick No. 98: the 49ers steal Wilson and grade out a B.

Somebody in the 98th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The 49ers sat still while Johnny Wilson, the No. 73 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
