Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB
The 49ers won the night they stopped Henderson from sliding. Grade: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Jason Henderson had no business being available in pick No. 252, and the 49ers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Bralen Trice
In No. 31 they get a double-digit-sack hope, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick63 Rnd2 Josh Newton
A clean, defensible pick in pick 63 with a little surplus value in Josh Newton. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick94 Rnd3 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at the 94th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick98 Rnd3 Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves in slot 98 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick131 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Javon Foster in the 131st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick197 Rnd6 Christian Jones
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Christian Jones graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick213 Rnd6 Dominic Lovett
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dominic Lovett in pick No. 213. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick252 Rnd7 Jason Henderson
They barely believed it either: Jason Henderson still on the board at Round 7, Pick 32. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
