Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Bears answered their biggest question with Williams. Grade: D-.

Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.

The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. With interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on OLB-EDGE is the choice that costs them. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

On value alone, Lassiter makes the weekend a net positive. They will need Frazier to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In pick 1 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In the 9th pick they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick51 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
The board had cheaper options than Zach Frazier at Round 2, Pick 19, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick75 Rnd3 Kamari Lassiter
They will replay Kamari Lassiter at slot 75 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick111 Rnd4 Renardo Green
Renardo Green at No. 111 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick120 Rnd4 Javon Solomon
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Javon Solomon at OLB-EDGE with interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots open.
Pick123 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea at the Round 4 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick143 Rnd5 Nelson Ceaser
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nelson Ceaser. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick238 Rnd7 Ryan Cooper Jr.
Ryan Cooper Jr. slid further than he should have, and pick 238 is lovely value for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
