They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop.
They are betting Hartman proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The phones were where this weekend was really won. The Sweat steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Drake Maye in the Round 1 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Roman Wilson at slot 44, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
T'Vondre Sweat in the 64th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 112 with a little surplus value in Will Shipley. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 148, where Jarrian Jones graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Trente Jones in the 208th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Sam Hartman at pick 229, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
