Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA+
The Bears turned the phones into found money: A-.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Bears were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.

Every board in the league had Holker lower, and that gap is the story. Spending an early pick on tight end with edge rusher, cornerback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The Coleman pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Bottom line, with Brock Bowers leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In the Round 1 slot they get a red-zone target to build around. More want than need.
Pick27 Rnd1 Troy Fautanu
In pick 27 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick35 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick No. 35 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick39 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman in slot 39 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
Pick47 Rnd2 Ruke Orhorhoro
Value said wait; Ruke Orhorhoro in the 47th overall pick says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick66 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
A conviction pick on Cooper Beebe at Round 3, Pick 2 that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at the 75th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110 Rnd4 Dallin Holker
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Dallin Holker at tight end with edge rusher, cornerback and other spots open.
Pick122 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 22: Jaden Hicks for less than the market said. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick146 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
A straight-up fair deal on Braelon Allen at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
