They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop.
Abrams-Draine falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Every board in the league had Gentry lower, and that gap is the story.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Jackson Powers-Johnson at the 44th pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Christian Mahogany in No. 77 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good price on Khyree Jackson in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking Kris Abrams-Draine in pick 150 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Ethan Driskell at slot 190 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They jumped the gun on Eric Gentry, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It adds depth where they could use a little.
