Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesA+ FutureD-
The Bears turned the phones into found money: B-.

The Bears clearly saw something nobody else did in Drake Nugent, taking him 55 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The Milton III steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

It is not that Solomon is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In slot 1 they get a matchup problem out wide. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick35 Rnd2 Kamari Lassiter
They did well to land Kamari Lassiter in Round 2, Pick 3, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick75 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
No drama and no debate, Christian Haynes went about where he belonged in pick No. 75. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick89 Rnd3 Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent at the 89th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick104 Rnd4 Javon Solomon
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Javon Solomon adds an OLB-EDGE and leaves interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots untouched.
Pick127 Rnd4 Isaiah Adams
A clean, defensible pick in the 127th overall pick with a little surplus value in Isaiah Adams. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick146 Rnd5 Keith Randolph Jr.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Keith Randolph Jr.. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick186 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III in slot 186 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
