Draft Grade — Bears

FutureD-
A passer of the future in Williams, and a F, for the Bears. Some picks age like wine; Drake Nugent at the 110th overall pick will need to, sitting 34 spots clear of his grade.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Speights at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick3
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In slot 3 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick75
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
They took Cooper Beebe at par in No. 75, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick110
Rnd4
Drake Nugent
Value said wait; Drake Nugent in pick No. 110 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick127
Rnd4
Jarrian Jones
A tidy little value on Jarrian Jones in pick 127, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick146
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
Malik Mustapha in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick186
Rnd6
Ethan Driskell
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 186 with a little surplus value in Ethan Driskell. The roster fit checks out.
Pick232
Rnd7
Omar Speights
Omar Speights in No. 232 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
