Somebody in the 98th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Eagles sat still while Kamren Kinchens, the No. 73 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Jefferson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 27 they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Edgerrin Cooper at No. 50. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No edge and no loss on Xavier Worthy in the 53rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 7, where Kingsley Suamataia graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They will replay Kamren Kinchens at the 98th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Jaheim Bell in slot 161 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board fumbled Marist Liufau all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
They liked Jordan Jefferson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 172. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A conviction pick on Joe Milton III at Round 6, Pick 11 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid up for Frank Gore Jr. at slot 210 when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
