Draft Grade — Cowboys

FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Cowboys this weekend: B+. Whoever sat across the table from the Cowboys should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The cost of the Wright reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Melton. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Tyler Guyton
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick56
Rnd2
Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright at No. 56 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick64
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy is a better player than Round 2, Pick 32 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick87
Rnd3
Max Melton
A slide stopped in pick No. 87, with Max Melton worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
