The Bears found their guy under center in Williams: D-.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.

They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

The Smith pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The Michael Carter II deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
