There is a lot to like until you notice edge rusher is still a hole. The Raiders never got to the one that mattered most. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They banked enough surplus on Jefferson to cover a lot of smaller sins. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get an anchor for the defensive front. A real need, handled.
J.J. McCarthy in slot 44 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No edge and no loss on Malachi Corley in pick 77; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy little value on Khyree Jackson in the 112th overall pick, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Braelon Allen went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 14. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jordan Jefferson in pick No. 190 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jeremy Flax. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
