Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesF FutureB
The Bears left with their quarterback, and a D- to match.

The war room fell hard for Trey Taylor, and it showed at the 203rd pick: 94 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The Solomon pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots. However the rest shakes out, Elliss at that price is a win they earned.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Caleb Williams. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick15 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In the 15th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick46 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
A conviction pick on Xavier Worthy at Round 2, Pick 14 that the board grades a round light. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick76 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brenden Rice well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick78 Rnd3 Javon Solomon
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick No. 78 on Javon Solomon with interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots unsolved.
Pick110 Rnd4 Jonah Elliss
Jonah Elliss in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick118 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in pick No. 118 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick121 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
Value said wait; Luke McCaffrey in the Round 4 slot says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick122 Rnd4 Malik Mustapha
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Malik Mustapha. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick145 Rnd5 Tyler Owens
A big swing on Tyler Owens at Round 5, Pick 9, well ahead of any board in the building. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick203 Rnd6 Trey Taylor
Trey Taylor in No. 203 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
