The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will need Boyd to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Hart falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th pick they get a true top target at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
You do not let a wide receiver like Brian Thomas Jr. reach the Round 2 slot and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Patrick Paul at No. 79 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Blake Fisher at pick 81 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Cam Hart at slot 113 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Khristian Boyd. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Johnny Wilson in the 147th overall pick, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Jarrian Jones higher than the 156th pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Isaiah Davis went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had cheaper options than Steele Chambers at No. 179, and it noticed. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A slide stopped in the Round 6 slot, with Joe Milton III worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Solomon Byrd this early at pick No. 221. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Charles Turner III at slot 225 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Anim Dankwah at pick 227 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
