The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McGlothern. The Hartman reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th pick they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Worthy at pick 53 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khyree Jackson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A safety of that caliber at the Round 3 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They barely believed it either: Cedric Gray still on the board at slot 147. It adds depth where they could use a little.
AJ Barner at the 193rd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
They robbed the room for Kendall Milton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Dwight McGlothern at No. 221 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Tip Reiman went about where he belonged in No. 225. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Sam Hartman at the 236th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
