This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jaxson Dart, the No. 55 name on the board, stolen at the 124th overall pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The whole projection now runs through Carson Beck; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The Taylor reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Jonah Savaiinaea at No. 52 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They jumped the gun on Shavon Revel Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Jaxson Dart at pick 124 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Garrett Dellinger in the Round 5 slot, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A big swing on Mason Taylor at the 196th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
They liked Jalon Walker enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 197. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jimmy Horn Jr. at pick No. 212 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Javontez Spraggins at Round 6, Pick 39, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Dorian Strong at slot 234 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
