A passer of the future in McCarthy, and a D, for the Patriots. The Patriots treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 89th overall pick on Brenden Rice a full 32 spots early. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. J.J. McCarthy is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.
However the rest shakes out, Davis at that price is a win they earned. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
